Seit etwas mehr als zwei Monate gehört die neue Casio Pro Trek in mein Leben und zwar auf und neben dem Golfplatz und deshalb ist es nun an der Zeit ein kleines Langzeit-Resümee zu ziehen.

For a little over two months, the Casio Pro Trek has been a part of my life, on and off the course. That‘s why it is time to give you guys a little long-term review.

Ganz allgemein bin ich mehr als überzeugt und style-mässig finde ich sie einfach Hammer. Casio hat hier wirklich Gefühl für Zeitgeist und Design bewiesen, ich finde die Pro Trek ist fast schon Fashion. Ich trage sie zu jedem Anlass und zu jedem Look – na ja fast immer, denn da sie auch ein “kleiner richtiger Klotz” ist, passt sie nicht unbedingt unter jeden Ärmel.

Overall I am really hooked, especially because of the stylish looks. Casio has really shown a strong emphasis on style and design, it‘s almost a fashion item, I would say. I wear it on every occasion with any look, well almost any look, since it‘s packed with so much tech, it doesn‘t necessarily work with every shirt in my closet.

Jedoch von der Funktion her – ein Traum, die Bezeichnung Smartwatch trifft hier wirklich den Nagel auf den Kopf. Ausnahmslos zu jeder meiner Aktivitäten kann ich die ProTrek nutzen. Neben Golf bin ich auch umheimlich gern und oft beim Wandern. Ich lade mir vor jeder Wanderung meine Farbkarten auf die Smartwatch und bin so mit dem energiesparenden GPS bestens vorbereitet. Okay, laufen muss ich selber noch, aber sie ist das missing link zu leeren Handy-Akkus und/oder keine Mobilfunkverbindung. Im Alltag nutze ich sie als normale Uhr, ich habe die Pop-up Funktion und Vernetzung mit meinen social media Kanälen wie Instagram, Twitter oder Facebook ausgeschaltet, denn das würde mich sonst wahnsinnig machen – aber als normal user macht das auch durchaus Sinn. In Bezug auf mein Golfspiel habe ich die Smartwatch schon in meiner ersten Blogpost als cool empfunden. 35 Golfrunden weltweit später bin ich immer noch ein harter Fan.

Functionally it‘s a dream come true and I can’t think of a better fitting term than “smart watch“ really. There’s no activity I can’t use my Pro Trek for. Alongside my golf hobby, I enjoy hiking a lot. Before every hike, I download the directions to my watch and with the power saving GPS I am perfectly prepared. Okay, I still have to drag my old butt up a mountain myself, but the Pro Trek saves me from those annoying smartphone battery warnings and the lack of much needed cell service. In my non-sporty everyday life, I use it like a regular watch, since I have turned off the connectivity and pop up messages from my social media. That would seriously drive me crazy, but it‘s a really nice feature for the regular user. When it comes to my golf game, I have really liked the watch from the beginning. When I first posted about it and now, with 35 rounds of golf in many different countries added to the experience, I have to say I am a real fan!

Fairerweise muss man sagen auf einen Links course bringt die ProTrek nichts, aber Links Golf ist ja nunmal auch ein anderer Sport.

To be fair, I have to admit that it hasn‘t been of much use to me on links courses, but then, coming from Germany, that‘s a whole different ball game for me anyways.

Fazit also: als Golfer mit der installierten Hole19app, die man für 5 Euro downloaded, ist man bestens ausgestattet. Besonders positiv finde ich die Akkuleistung, vollgeladen hat man mehr als einen Tag Zugriff auf alle Funktionen, Apps und Tools der ProTrek. Also wer auf Smartwatches steht – ich, als “Hartuser” kann die Casio Uhr nur wärmsten empfehlen.

The bottom line is that as a golfer, with the five-buck Hole19-app installed, you‘re all set! What really impresses me is the battery! A full charge offers more than a day of accessing all the features, apps and tools that the Pro Trek has to offer. So for all the people who are into smartwatches, I as a hard-core user am more than happy to recommend this Casio watch.
