My stay in Palm Springs was overwhelming, so many golf courses so close together, for a golf fanatic like me just amazing. Hanging out at the pool of the Alcazar Hotel Palm Springs I decided to play the next day. I found this course very close to the hotel, 35$ with cart and breakfast, just perfect for an earlybird in the desert of California. There happened a lot on the fairways of the Indian Canyons Golf Resort. It was a favourite haunt of many Hollywood celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, and Jackie Gleason, also former U.S. presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson and Ronald Reagan played here. I chose to play the south course and I was very excited what would happen to me here.

But the first hole already gave me the answer and again I was stoked by the quality of golf in America. The south course of the Indian Canyons Golf Resort was nice, I was captivated by the design of the many bunkers in combination with the palm trees. Not that I like to be in the sand but I always love it when golf courses have some kind of their own special graphic.

I my memory the first three holes are still one of my favourites, for example no.1, a par 4 with a nice bunker, which looked like a bum in the middle of the landing zone. I scored a par which was the beginning of a good day. No.2 was just a awesome short par 3, I was able to play a par.

Arriving on the teebox of no.3, a midsize par 5, the sun started to break through the peak of the mountains – what a moment! I drove my tee shot in the sand trap on the right. But at the end again a par.

After playing the first nine holes I was in a kind of rush. Fortunately I used a golf cart as again the temperature was between 96.8 and 100.4 °F, way too hot for golf and I was wondering why I was on my own at the course. But I just loved it because of the great course and the good score on this day.

Surely Indian Canyons has probably left behind its best days, but for the money and the quality of the course I recommend it and I would play it again for sure.
