Unfortunately it was finally our last stop in amazing Portugal and as so often on our trip the last course was something special.

From Quinta Do Lago to our new accommodation the brand new Onyria Beach House Hotel it was just an one hour drive. We couldn´t really believe it when we arrived because our hotel for the next few days was just incredible. The small and very stylish Onyria Beach House Hotel is situated in the middle of the 27 hole Onyria Palmares Golf Course.

With just 20 uniquely designed rooms and an undeniably creative ambiance the hotel offers a very familiar and private atmosphere. Each room is equipped with a large panoramic balcony where the sun will greet you in the morning and from which you will have a wonderful view over Lagos Bay and the long beach of Meia Praia. The perfect location to relaxe after an exciting round of golf on this very interesting golf course.

Every 9 holes of the 27 hole golf course have a different concept. The course variety ranges from parkland course to links course to designer course and guarantees extreme fun. I played all possible combinations, jumped into the hotel pool during the rounds and enjoyed this remarkable place as much as I could.

Hard to say which were my favorite holes because I fell in love with the links style 9 holes close to the ocean. Even because there is this railway track crossing the course. The condition of the course was great even or because of the hot temperature.

 

Fast and firm greens and even flat tee boxes. Some parts of the course have been very picturesque like No. 4 and No. 5 of the parkland course. From the tees you can see the lagoon which makes this holes to a scenic golf adventure.

I had a little issue with the bunkers on this day. Don´t ask me but I ended up in almost every bunker. Very good that the quality of the sand was soft as butter and I could create some nice sand safes. I recommend definitely a late afternoon round.

The sunlight during this time of the day is so unique, so special. Mainly like the whole area. After the round you should have dinner at the Onyria Beach House Hotel. It´s really a delicious way to end your day.

In summary the concept of the 27 hole golf course of Onyria Palmares combined with the very new Onyria Beach House Hotel is a successful idea all round. I loved the friendly people, the calm climate and the good quality of food at this area. So give it a try, you will love it!
