Das vielleicht schönste Schmankerl im Alpenvorland. Das ist eine kühne Behauptung, denn das Fünfseenland (Ammersee, Starnberger See, Wörthsee, Pilsensee, Weßlinger See) hat viele Highlights an schönen Golfplätzen zu bieten. Hohenpähl verschwindet oft unter dem Radar vieler Golfreisender. 

Possibly the most beautiful hidden gem in the Alpine foothills. That’s a bold statement as the Fünfseenland (Ammersee, Starnberger See, Wörthsee, Pilsensee, Weßlinger See) has many highlights of beautiful golf courses to offer. Hohenpähl often disappears under the radar of many golf travellers.

Zu Unrecht! Ich habe den GC Hohenpähl nun schon ein paar Mal als normaler Gast und ohne Kamera gespielt und war vom ersten Fairway an begeistert. In England würde man das Layout der Fairways als “Nice an Querky” beschreiben und viele der selbsternannten Longhitter würden es als zu kurz bezeichnen. Allerdings muss man hier erst einmal seinen Score spielen. Jedes Loch ist anders und man sollte sich vor jedem Abschlag einen Spielplan überlegen.

Wrongly so! I’ve played GC Hohenpähl a few times now as a normal guest and without my camera and was enamoured from the very first fairway. In England, the layout of the fairways would be described as “Nice an Querky” and many of the self-described long hitters would describe it as too short. However, play your score first over here. Each hole is different and you should think about a game plan before every tee shot. 

Oft ist ein verzogener Drive im hohen naturbelassenen Rough verschwunden. Sobald man auf dem Fairway ist, kann man einen atemberaubend gut gepflegten Platz genießen. Von den schnellen, aber spurtreuen Grüns über den First und Second Cut bis hin zu den gepflegten und horizontalen Abschlägen – der Platz ist einfach hervorragend gepflegt. Dazu sollten man wissen, dass GC Hohenpähl seit 1993 nach dem Konzept “Golf und Natur” gehegt und gepflegt wird.

Ein Wort zur Gastronomie: Die kleine, gemütliche Terrasse des Restaurants befindet sich in der Nähe des 18. Grüns und ist ein schöner Ort, um die Runde Revue passieren zu lassen und die eintreffenden Flights zu beobachten oder anzufeuern. Auch das Personal im GC Hohenpähl ist mir sehr positiv und freundlich aufgefallen, sehr flexibel und engagiert. Wirklich großartig. 

A word about the gastronomy: the restaurant’s small, pleasant terrace is located close to the 18th green and is a nice place to review the round and to look at or cheer on incoming flights. I also noticed the staff at GC Hohenpähl to be very positive and friendly, very flexible and enthusiastic. Really great. 

Nun ein paar harte Fakten Hohenpähl liegt etwa eine Autostunde von München entfernt, liebevoll eingebettet in das hügelige Fünfseenland. Von vielen Löchern aus hat man an klaren Tagen einen atemberaubenden Blick auf Deutschlands höchsten Berg, die Zugspitze. Ich persönlich würde Pähl immer im Spätsommer spielen, wenn das Rough in der Nachmittagssonne goldgelb leuchtet und einen wunderbaren Kontrast zu den saftig grünen Fairways bietet. Die alten, hohen Bäume spenden auf fast jedem Fairway herrlichen Schatten und machen ein präzises Spiel erforderlich. Wilde Schläge sind hier nicht angesagt, vielmehr ist strategisches Golf zu empfehlen. Auf dem 18-Loch-Golfplatz mit seinen 5981 m weiß und 5723 m von gelb, macht das Golfspielen richtig Spaß. Das reguläre Greenfee beträgt 90 Euro unter der Woche und 100 Euro am Wochenende. In Begleitung eines Mitglieds im Flight: 50 oder 60 Euro.

Hohenpähl ist auch Mitglied im Münchner Kreis. Der Golfclub verfügt außerdem über eine Driving Range und einen voll ausgestatteten Short Game Area. 

Now a few hard facts Hohenpähl is located about an hour’s drive from Munich, lovingly nestled in the hilly Fünfseenland. From many holes you have a breathtaking view of Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze, on a clear day. Personally, I would always play Pähl in late summer when the rough glows golden yellow in the afternoon sun and offers a wonderful contrast to the lush green fairways. The old, tall trees provide wonderful shade on almost every fairway and make a precise game necessary. Wild shots are not the order of the day here, rather strategic golf is the order of the day. On the 18-hole golf course with its. 5981 metres of white and 5723 metres of yellow, you really have a great time playing golf. The regular green fee is 90 euros during the week and 100 euros at weekends. When accompanied by a member in the flight: 50 or 60 euros.

Schnelle, spurtreue Grüns, perfekt geschnittene First und Second Cuts und die Bunker und Bunkerkanten sind ein Traum. Hinzu kommt das pfiffige und freche Layout des 18-Loch-Golfplatzes. Ein echter Geheimtipp in Bayern.

The 15th is a par 3 with 153 metres of yellow, which offers a breathtaking Alpine panorama from the tee box. A second look at the green reveals the perfection and love with which the GC Hohepähl is maintained. Fast, true-to-track greens, perfectly cut first and second cuts and the bunkers and bunker edges are a dream. Added to this is the smart and cheeky layout of the 18-hole golf course.
