Es gibt ein schönes deutsches Sprichwort, das wie die Faust aufs Auge zu diesem Projekt passt. Warum in die Ferne schweifen, wenn das Gute liegt so nah? Ich lebe im Süden Deutschlands, genauer gesagt im schönen Bayern, das in Bezug auf Golf und Landschaft viel zu bieten hat.

In den kommenden Reisen und Artikeln werde ich Bayern und seine Golfplätze genauer unter die Lupe nehmen. Bayerns Landschaft ist so vielfältig wie seine Golfplätze wunderschön sind. Der erste Platz, den ich euch vorstellen möchte, ist der Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg. Um ehrlich zu sein, hätte ich nie erwartet, in diesem Teil Bayerns einen so schönen und spannenden Golfplatz zu finden. Dazu kommt die Kulisse mit dem Schloss und der schönen Halfway-Lodge. Ohne den Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg im Detail zu beschreiben, kann ich schon jetzt sagen, dass dieser Golfplatz auf eurer Playlist stehen sollte.

There is a beautiful German saying that fits this project like a glove. Why go far when the good things are so close? I live in the south of Germany, more precisely in beautiful Bavaria, which has a lot to offer in terms of golf and landscape.

In the coming travels and articles, I will take a closer look at Bavaria and its golf courses. Bavaria’s landscape is as diverse as its golf courses are wonderful. The first course I would like to introduce to you is the Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg. To be honest, I would never have expected to find such a beautiful and exciting golf course in this part of Bavaria. Plus the setting with the castle and the beautiful halfway lodge. Without even talking about Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg in detail, I can already say that this golf course should be on your playlist.

Schon als ich auf den Parkplatz von Schloss Klingenburg fuhr, war mir klar, dass dieser Golfplatz etwas Besonderes ist. Der Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg liegt idyllisch in einem hügeligen Wald und ist mit einem sehr feuchten Boden und vielen Wasserhindernissen gesegnet. Das bedeutet auch in unseren neuen heißen und trockenen Sommern saftige und knackig grüne Fairways, generell kann man davon ausgehen, dass Klingenberg in einem Top-Pflegezustand ist.

As soon as I drove up to the car park of Klingenburg Castle, it was clear to me that this golf course is special. Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg is idyllically situated in a hilly forest and is blessed with a very wet ground and many water hazards. This implies even in our new hot and dry summers lush and fresh green fairways, in general one can anticipate that Klingenberg is in a top maintenance condition.

Das Layout der Fairways ist spannend und abwechslungsreich in die eher hügelige Landschaft integriert. Während die vorderen Neun aus viel Wald und großen Höhenunterschieden bestehen, werden die hinteren Neun von Schloss Klingenburg von kniffligen Wasserhindernissen dominiert. Tatsächlich muss ich sagen, dass Schloss Klingenburg für mich nicht einfach zu spielen war. Nur ein minimal verzogener Abschlag bedeutet, dass man fast an jedem Loch noch einmal abschlagen muss. Schmale Fairways und schnelle Grüns erfüllen ihre Aufgabe mit Bravour. Zudem sind die Par 3 sehr lang und mit Bunkern oder Wasser gut verteidigt.

The layout of the fairways is exciting and varied, integrated into the rather hilly landscape. While the front nine is made up of woods and large differences in altitude, the back nine of Schloss Klingenburg is dominated by tricky water hazards. In fact, I have to say that I did not find Schloss Klingenburg easy to play. Only a minimally skewed tee shot means teeing up again almost on every hole. Narrow fairways and fast greens do their job expertly. In addition, the par 3s are very long and well defended with bunkers or water.

Frust sollte bei einer Golfrunde im Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg jedenfalls nicht aufkommen, dieser Golfplatz ist ein echtes Schmuckstück und macht trotzdem eine Menge Spaß. Darüber hinaus ist der Halfway eine echte Schönheit. Der elegante Pavillon ist am höchsten Punkt des Platzes neben dem Abschlag des 9. und des 18. Grüns wie eine Aussichtsplattform platziert. Das Personal war wirklich sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.

Frustration should not arise during a round of golf at Golfclub Schloss Klingenburg, this golf course is a real gem and still makes a lot of fun. Moreover, the halfway is a real beauty. The elegant pavilion is placed at the highest point of the course next to the tee of the 9th and the 18th green like a lookout platform. The staff was really very friendly and helpful.

Leider konnte ich das Clubrestaurant nicht ausprobieren, was schade ist, denn ich habe nur Gutes darüber gehört. Die schönen alten hohen Bäume fand ich sehr angenehm und sie spenden an heißen Sommertagen viel Schatten. Ein wirkliches Signature Hole hatte ich nicht, denn Klingenburg hat mich wirklich herausgefordert. Allerdings fand ich die 10, 13 und 15 mit ihren praktisch inselförmigen Grüns recht spannend zu spielen.

Unfortunately, I was not able to check out the club restaurant, which is a pity as I have only heard good things about it. I found the beautiful old high trees very pleasant and they provide a lot of shade on hot summer days. I didn’t have a real signature hole because Klingenburg really challenged me. However, I found the 10, 13, 15 with their practically island greens quite exciting to play. But I might have to play the course again.
