MGC Thalkichen is really something unique. Its location is very special for a golf course in munich, it’s close to the center and right next to the zoo and the Isar river. The more important aspect for me is that the club was founded in 1910 which makes it part of my project “The History List”. Actually this course belongs to the Munich Golf Club.

I played it on my own which made it so relaxing. It was 6 am and I was the first one on the course. For me this is the perfect way to start my day before going to work.

So I began to play my round, no.1, a par 5, not long but tight, and I placed myself in troubles by hitting my drive right into the trees on the left side. The second shot: I punched it back on the fairway and from there I tried to hit the green. The result was terrible, well, it still was 6 o`clock in the morning and my golf not at it`s best.

The next hole was a nice and short par 4 but again the same situation, straight into the trees on the right side.

Playing the next holes I enjoyed this course so much. It’s truly a hidden gam with narrow fairways and small greens which are always well covered by bunkers. Every hole has its own magic moment like the 4th hole, a par 3, or the 5th, a long par 4.

Altogether walking on the fairways you can feel its history, which is somehow magical, but playing this course you have to be straight.
