Borgo Egnazia

I have been a big fan of Puglia for quite some time and I have been spending my recent summer holidays in the region. Puglia, with its beautiful landscape, coastline, excellent food and friendly people is actually the most beautiful part of Italy for me. Again and again I drove past Borgo Eganzia and was curious from the beginning how the hotel and the San Domenico golf course look from the ‘inside’. I was therefore extremely happy to get a closer look at this really unbelievable and gorgeous hotel.

It may be super 5*, but Borgo Egnazia is worth every single penny. For those who like a stylish, luxurious and extremely delicious holiday combining food, golf and culture, this is your place!

Borgo Eganzia stretches like a small village sensually embedded in a typical Apulian olive grove. With various room categories, there is something for everyone, whether it’s a family, a group or a couple. Four pools scattered over the whole area offer various possibilities to relax and unwind. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the various restaurants invite you to linger and radiate a certain regional well-being.

The staff are simply superb, speaking many languages in a friendly, efficient and insightful manner. A small example on my arrival, I asked for a glass of Primitvo. I was offered two glasses to try two different wines. After an excellent taste and the waitress’ recommendation, I made my choice. Just great. The food too is really outstanding. There are seven restaurants at Borgo Egnazia which offer plenty of variety and styles of cuisine. If you fancy trying food outside the hotel, although you might not have time, the hotel can recommend a selection that will keep you busy for quite a few lunches and dinners!

But what you really shouldn’t miss is a fish lunch in Borgo Egnazia’s very own beach club, Cala Masciola. Outstanding, Great, Delicious. One small example for the Dolce, is fresh pistachio ice cream with homemade olive oil and a limoncello “Perfetto”. Heaven!

Ok, so to have a good time in Borgo Egnazia is really easy, but it keeps getting better. Right next to the hotel is the San Domenico golf course. A super course. Let’s say it is not only beautiful and relaxed, with its almost permanent sea view but also demanding and in top condition.

oh and please do a wine tasting at Terre di San Vito. Delicious wine presented in such an charming way.

Obviously Borgo Egnazia is not for everyone’s pocket but for those who are willing to invest it is more than special and will give you memories for a lifetime. Personally, I can recommend it highly and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
