Club de Golf Alcanada

Once, always Alcanada Golf.

If you want to play one of the best golf courses in Mallorca, do yourself a favour and play Alcanada Golf – you won’t regret a single shot. It’s no coincidence that the Challenge Tour comes here once a year. A little tip in advance: in the weeks after the tour, the course is still polished to perfection and the greens are among the best I’ve played this year. The rough, meanwhile, has been very mean. The ball is sometimes almost impossible to find or so buried that you have to hit it hard to get out of the rough. On the other hand, the bunkers were butter and a delight to play out of.

In addition to its outstanding performance, the layout and setting of Alcanada Golf are unbeatable. You can see the sea from almost every fairway. The individual fairways are separated from each other by beautiful old trees, and you rarely encounter other players. Lost balls are usually lost, and it makes more sense to replace them than to spend hours searching for them and holding up play. I personally found the front nine more exciting to play, as they are beautifully integrated into the hillside landscape around Alcanada Golf, offering my favourite shots into a lower green paired with great views. You won’t find any fairways at Alcanada Golf that simply run straight down 350 metres. Every hole requires a look at the birdie book and an idea of where to put the ball. You should also have some shot length in your bag, as the wind from the nearby sea is always a factor. Probably the most famous fairway is the 7th, a long par 5 with a tee box high above the entire golf course. The view from the tee is as unrealistically beautiful as something out of a golf fairy tale book. The seventh is difficult to play and par is a good result.

The back nine are relatively flat compared to the first nine, but are just as beautiful and enjoyable to play. The 13th hole in particular is probably the most scenic hole and is incredibly fun to play. The men’s tees high above the course are exceptionally beautiful.

Another highlight in Alcanada Golf is the clubhouse with its impressive terrace, which offers a magnificent view over Mallorca’s largest bay, Alcudia. Almost every dish on the menu is delicious.

What particularly struck me was the extraordinary wildlife on and around the golf course. A pair of peacocks next to the restaurant in the woods, a herd of goats on the 7th, and the largest praying mantis I have ever seen right in the middle of the fairway on the 7th.

It is important to note that Alcanada Golf is a golf course only and does not offer accommodation. The perfect solution is the Inmood Hotel Aucanada, just 500 metres from the golf course in Aucanada. The hotel’s own shuttle will take you there in 3 minutes on request.

The Inmood Hotel Aucanada is great. As soon as you enter the lobby, you feel a relaxed, friendly and very stylish atmosphere. The rooms are the perfect size and the beds are very comfortable. From the balcony, you have a great view of the sea. I know these are details, but personally I also liked the soap, shower gel and the subtle but very pleasant room fragrance. If you feel like a round of spa or pool relaxation after golf, no problem. The generous dinner and breakfast are served in the form of a delicious buffet. All in all, the perfect option for a multi-day golf trip in combination with Alcanada.
