Schon während der Vorbesprechung war mir klar, dass der Besuch im Country Club Schloss Langenstein etwas Besonderes werden würde. Einige Löcher kannte ich bereits von Instagram, darunter das beeindruckende Bahn 17, aber ich hatte keine Ahnung, was für ein unglaubliches Juwel von einem Golfplatz mich erwarten würde. Klar, die Bodenseeregion ist landschaftlich wunderschön und jeder Golfplatz dort muss einfach großartig sein. Aber was ich dort vorfand, eingebettet in die reizvolle Hügellandschaft am südlichen Ende des Bodensees nahe der Schweizer Grenze und den berühmten Rheinfällen in Schaffhausen, ist möglicherweise der schönste Golfplatz Süddeutschlands. Aber selbst das ist vielleicht noch untertrieben.

During the preliminary discussion, it was already quite clear to me that the visit to the Country Club Schloss Langenstein would be something special. I was already familiar with some of the holes from Instagram, such as the striking 17th, but I had no idea what an incredible jewel of a golf course I would discover. Okay, sure, the Lake Constance region is scenically beautiful and any golf course located there is bound to be superb. But what I encountered there, nestled in the lovely hilly landscape at the southern end of Lake Constance near the Swiss border and the famous Rhine Falls in Schaffhausen, is possibly the most beautiful golf course in southern Germany. But even that may be an understatement.

Als ich am Parkplatz und Clubhaus ankam, bestätigten sich meine ersten Eindrücke, die ich bereits auf dem Weg dorthin gewonnen hatte. Sie verstärkten mein anfänglich positives Gefühl und gaben mir einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf das, was mich erwarten würde. Als ich aus dem Auto stieg, wusste ich sofort, dass die nächsten drei Tage ein wahr gewordener Traum für jeden Golfer sein würden.

When I arrived at the car park and clubhouse, my first impressions, which I had already formed on the way there, were confirmed. They reinforced my initial positive feeling and gave me a little taste of what was to come. As soon as I got out of the car, I knew that the next three days would be a real golfer’s dream.

Aber kommen wir nun zum Wesentlichen: Der Schloss Langenstein Golf- und Country-Club ist Mitglied der Leading Golf Clubs of Germany, was schon beim Betreten des Geländes deutlich wird. Das Logo am Eingang zum Golfplatz ist sehr stilvoll und cool, modern, elegant und aufwendig graviert und designt, und dieser Stil setzt sich auch im weiteren Verlauf fort. Das Personal an der Rezeption ist freundlich, sympathisch und sehr professionell. Die Umkleideräume und Sanitäranlagen sind sauber und hochwertig. Ein kurzer Blick auf das gut besuchte Restaurant verrät mir, dass mich später ein köstliches Abendessen erwartet.

But now let’s get down to business: the Schloss Langenstein Golf and Country Club is a member of The Leading Golf Clubs of Germany, which is clear from the moment you enter the grounds. The logo at the entrance to the course is very elegant and cool, modern, stylish and elegantly engraved and designed, and it continues in the same vein. The reception staff are friendly, personable and very professional. The changing rooms and sanitary facilities are clean and stylish. A quick glance at the bustling restaurant tells me that I’m in for a delicious dinner later on.

Sprechen wir über den Golfplatz. In meiner Aufregung bog ich versehentlich falsch ab und landete am ersten Abschlag des 9-Loch-Par-3-Kurzplatzes, und ich was ziemlich beeindruckt von dem, was ich sah. Aber dazu später mehr, denn ich wollte direkt zum ersten Abschlag des 18-Loch-Meisterschaftsgolfplatzes von Country Club Schloss Langenstein. Als ich dort ankam, war ich erneut überwältigt und meine Augen glänzten vor Aufregung, wie die eines Schuljungen vor einer Eisdiele. Direkt zwischen den Abschlägen 1 und 10 befindet sich die großartige Driving Range mit dem stilvollen und geschickt integrierten Halfway Café, oder besser gesagt Mini-Restaurant, das die wohl besten Rühreier der Region serviert. Auch hier kann man schnell mit den äußerst freundlichen Mitgliedern und Mitarbeitern des Clubs ins Gespräch kommen und eine Weile verweilen. Die Anlage ist schon jetzt eine 10 von 10, ohne dass ich auch nur ein einziges Loch gespielt habe.

Let’s talk about the golf course. In my excitement, I accidentally took a wrong turn and ended up at the first tee of the 9-hole par 3 short course, and I was quite impressed by what I saw. But more on that later, because I wanted to head straight over to the first tee of the 18-hole championship golf course at Country Club Schloss Langenstein. When I arrived, I was once again overwhelmed with delight, my eyes filled with excitement as I stood there like a schoolboy in front of an ice cream parlour. Directly between tees 1 and 10 is the magnificent driving range with the stylish and skilfully integrated Halfway Café, or rather mini restaurant, which serves what is arguably the best scrambled eggs in the region. Here, too, you can quickly strike up a conversation with the extremely friendly members and staff of the club and linger a while. The facility is already a 10 out of 10 without me having played a single hole.

Oh Mann, und dann war da noch das perfekte Sonnenlicht auf dem ersten Abschlag, der in puncto Platzbedingungen fast Tour-Standard hat, flach und vor allem makellos gepflegt ist. Der erste Drive war nicht ganz perfekt, aber er gab mir die Gelegenheit, das hohe Rough zu bewundern, das aus wunderschön blühenden Wildwiesen bestand, die sich sanft im leichten Wind wiegten – es war wie in einem Golfmärchen. Nach nur wenigen Löchern war der Platz so wunderbar surreal, dass ich mit einem breiten Grinsen im Gesicht Golf spielte, voller Golf-Glückshormonen. Nach ein paar Löchern hatte ich mich akklimatisiert und traf mehr Fairways, sodass ich den Platz auf spielerische Art und Weise genießen konnte. Aber das Gefühl, wie ein Schuljunge zu sein, der voller Ehrfurcht und Aufregung an jedem Abschlag steht, als wäre es sein Geburtstag, wollte einfach nicht verschwinden. Dieses Gefühl kenne ich eigentlich eher von Golfurlauben in Portugal oder Schottland, wenn ich auf den großartigen Plätzen der Welt gespielt habe. Umso mehr ein Beweis dafür, dass man nicht immer um die Welt reisen muss, um unglaublich gutes Golf zu spielen, sondern dass man auch hier in Deutschland auf fantastischen Plätzen spielen kann. Zum Glück hatte ich noch ein paar Löcher vor mir, aber das Problem war, dass mir vielleicht keine Superlative mehr einfallen würden, um die restlichen Löcher dieses fantastischen Golfplatzes zu beschreiben.

Oh man, and then there was the perfect sunlight on the first tee, which is almost tour standard in terms of its condition, flat and, most importantly, immaculately maintained. The first drive wasn’t quite perfect, but it gave me the opportunity to admire the high rough consisting of wonderfully blooming rough pastures, gently swaying in a light breeze – it was like being in a golfing fairy tale. After just a few holes, the course was so wonderfully surreal that I played golf with a big grin on my face, full of golfer’s happiness endorphins. After a few holes, I had settled in and was hitting more fairways, allowing me to soak up the course in a playful kind of way. But the feeling of being a schoolboy, standing at every tee box in awe and excitement, as if it were his birthday, just wouldn’t go away. I’m actually more familiar with this feeling from golf holidays in Portugal or Scotland, when playing on the world’s great courses. This is further proof that you don’t always have to travel the world to play incredibly good golf, but that you can also play fabulous courses here in Germany. Fortunately, I still had a few holes left to play, but the problem was that I might not have any superlatives left to describe the remaining holes on this fantastic golf course.

Genau so war es auch, denn das Sonnenlicht war perfekt, um den Platz zu fotografieren. Der Platz ist außergewöhnlich gut gepflegt, besser als alles, was ich in Süddeutschland gesehen habe. Das Layout des 18-Loch-Meisterschaftsplatzes ist so abwechslungsreich und vielfältig, dass man für fast jedes Loch einen guten Spielplan haben muss. Alternativ sollte man den Platz einfach öfter spielen, was ohnehin sehr zu empfehlen ist. Die Bunkeranlagen sind groß und strategisch gut platziert und fügen sich fast malerisch in die Landschaft und das Design des Platzes ein. Die Fairways sind wie ein grüner Teppich und die Grüns sind von Tour-Qualität, schnell und spurtreu. Außerdem ist der Platz wirklich schwierig, ungenaue Drives gehen oft verloren oder landen in den Bunkern. Die Löcher sind lang und selten gerade und die Par 3 sind schwierig zu spielen. Aber genau darum geht es beim Golf und diesen Sport so spannend. Wenn man jedoch die Fairways trifft, eröffnet sich immer ein unglaubliches Eisen ins Grün. Die Grüns sind ideal zum Putten. Die Kombination aus einem so guten und abwechslungsreichen Golfplatz mit dieser wunderschönen Landschaft ist, wie bereits erwähnt, einfach magisch.

That’s exactly how it was, because the sunlight was perfect for photographing the course. The course is exceptionally well maintained, better than anything I’ve seen in southern Germany. The layout of the 18-hole championship course is so varied and diverse that you need to have a good game plan for almost every hole. Alternatively, you should simply play the course more often, which is highly recommended anyway. The bunkers are large and strategically well placed, blending almost picturesquely into the landscape and the design of the course. The fairways are like a green carpet and the greens are tour quality, fast and true. The course is also really difficult, with inaccurate drives often getting lost or ending up in the bunkers. The holes are long and rarely straight, and the par 3s are difficult to play. But that’s what golf is all about and what makes this sport so exciting. However, if you hit the fairways, you always have an incredible iron shot to the green. The greens are ideal for putting. The combination of such a good and varied golf course with this beautiful landscape is, as already mentioned, simply magical.

Ein weiteres Highlight ist der außergewöhnliche und abwechslungsreiche 9-Loch-Par-3-Kurzplatz. Hier kann man die Kunst des Golfspiels erlernen, sein kurzes Spiel perfektionieren, und für Kinder und junge Spieler, die gerade erst mit dem Golfsport beginnen, ist dies wahrscheinlich der beste Ort, um diesen großartigen Sport kennenzulernen und sich in ihn zu verlieben. Wir haben die 9 Löcher mehrmals gespielt, da der Kurzplatz sehr gut gepflegt ist. Ein Highlight ist der erste Abschlag von dort oben, mit herrlichem Blick über die Anlagen von Country Club Schloss Langenstein. Auch das Rough darf auf dem Kurzplatz stehen bleiben, was ein echtes optisches Highlight ist.

Another highlight is the extraordinary and varied 9-hole par 3 short course. Here you can master the art of golf, perfect your short game, and for children and younger players who are just getting to know golf, this is probably the best place to get in touch with this great sport and fall in love with it. We played the 9 holes several times because the short course is very well maintained. A highlight is the first tee shot from up here, which offers a magnificent view over the facilities of Country Club Schloss Langenstein. The rough is also allowed to stand on the short course, which is a real visual highlight.

Das absolute Highlight ist die Küche des Clubs. Es ist fast schon selbstverständlich, dass Sie hier nach Ihrer Runde exquisite Speisen genießen können. Das RISTORANTE ENOTECA TOSCANA ist ein erstklassiges italienisches Restaurant, das auch Gäste außerhalb des Golfsports willkommen heißt. Neben köstlichen italienischen Klassikern wie Pasta und Pizza sollte man sich unbedingt Zeit nehmen und Platz im Magen freihalten, um sich durch die Speisekarte zu schlemmen. Auch die Weinkarte ist ein Genuss für alle Weinliebhaber. Auf der herrlichen Terrasse des Restaurants kann man den mediterranen Lifestyle vom Bodensee wirklich genießen.

The absolute highlight is the club’s cuisine. It’s almost to be expected that you can enjoy exquisite food here after your round. RISTORANTE ENOTECA TOSCANA is a first-class Italian restaurant that welcomes guests other than golfers. In addition to delicious Italian classics such as pasta and pizza, you should definitely take the time and make room in your stomach to feast your way through the menu. The wine list is also a treat for all wine lovers. Sitting on the restaurant’s fabulous terrace, you can enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean lifestyle on Lake Constance.

Alles in allem ist ein Tag im Golf- und Country-Club Schloss Langenstein sehr zu empfehlen. Hier ist wirklich alles Weltklasse und atemberaubend, oder wie man heute in den sozialen Medien sagt: „memorable“.
