GC Wörthsee
A unique course and the well-deserved choice of venue for this year’s Ladies German Open.
“What a Feeling” by Irene Cara from the movie “Flashdance” is probably the most well-known song describing exactly these moments. The first rays of the sun making their way through the trees and creating such a unique play of light on Bavaria‘s fairways that your heart just fills with joy. For me, it doesn’t get any better than this.
I had the rare opportunity to play this course on the eve of the Ladies German Open, which is why it was – pardon my French – in pretty damn great condition. It was perfectly prepped from “Tee to Green“. The greens were swift as an arrow, the Teeboxes smooth as a baby’s bottom and the rough had exactly the right length to ruin your score.
On top of that, GC Wörthsee offers high-profile excitement on every single hole. I had my signature moment on the 14th, a par 4 with 336 meters from yellow. With a perfect drive in the middle of the fairway I had half a pitching wedge left to the green.
My shot was too short, but that turned out to be a blessing. When I arrived at the ball, there was an indescribably beautiful display of light in the tree next to me. What an unforgettable moment – and the perfect opportunity to forget about my score and snap a picture.
GC Wörthsee is definitely an amazing golfing highlight and more than deserves its spot among the Leading Golf Courses of Germany.
