Aroeira No.2 is an excellent alternative to PGA Aroeira No.1. The rebranding from Aroeira Challenge to PGA Aroeira No.2 is strategically correct and smart, however, the ambition and quality of this 18 hole golf course remains a real ‘challenge’.

The first holes of the front nine show you what you have to deal with over the next few hours. Narrow fairways with really challenging bunkers in the landing zone of your drives and in defence of the greens. Personally, I totally celebrate this, but it’s better to approach it strategically with a game plan rather than always bluntly pulling out the driver. There is no real rough but, similar to PGA Aroeira No.1, the thinned-out pine forests that can significantly affect your score on all 18 holes. You may find your ball, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have any pine trees in front of you.
The quality and condition of the tee boxes, fairways and greens is superb. I especially like the way the water hazards and lakes are embedded in the layout of PGA Aroeira No.2. Especially on the back nine, holes from 12 to 15 are very interesting because you don’t always need the driver. Perhaps the decisive hole is the 18th, a strategically exciting par 5 with 458 metres from yellow and 389 metres from red with index 12.

I’ve been able to play PGA Aroeira No.2 a few times now and what I really like is that no single hole plays like another. Every hole is different to play, so to speak, which makes it extremely fun and challenging for your game plan.

I would even go one step further and claim that PGA Aroeira No.2 will become a real Pearl after its redesign this year. The improvements to PGA Aroeria No.1 have already shown what can be achieved with a course.

In addition, the proximity of the first tee to the partner hotel Aroeira Lisbon Hotel is only a few minutes away, as is the wonderful clubhouse of PGA Aroeira. Here you can enjoy a cool drink after the round or the excellent food.

As mentioned, the combination of both PGA Aroeira courses near Lisbon is a great opportunity for a very versatile golf trip with two different 18-hole golf courses and many culinary highlights close to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
